Reflection

I typically do not enjoy English classes however, I did enjoy this one. This class was not like the standard boring English class to me. I believe it was more of a who’s teaching the class other than the subject because I still did not like the course just because it is English, but the professors teaching style as well as vibes made the course better in my opinion. It allowed me to like the course although I don’t like English. As far as the course work I thought there were some things I enjoyed and some not so much. I thought the group work was fine it did not bother me and a good thing was that my group members were engaging and proactive in getting tasks done. The papers were good assignments as well. The narrative paper stood out to me the most because I don’t like writing of talking about me I’d rather do a research paper. Although I feel this way, the narrative paper wasn’t all that bad. Two downsides to me were the book and the blogs. The book work didn’t really seem that infor...

Kilauea: Hawaii emergency declared over volcano eruption

Image
Kilauea volcano has erupted near a residential area on Hawaii's largest island, prompting a local state of emergency and the mandatory evacuation of 1,700 residents.  Streams of lava have been seen running through woods and bubbling on to roads. Hopefully nobody will be injured.

Twitter users told to change passwords after internal leak

Twitter uses were told to change thier passwords after a internal information leak. This is bad because now someone could have access to your account without you knowing and even posting on your behalf. I think as a user all of our information that we put in the settings should be safe.

Reid Technique

The Reid technique came from a police officer named John Reid devised so that police officers can get confessions out of people in order to close cases at a high rate. This technique does indeed get confessions, but not confessions from the people who actually committed the crime. The Reid technique requires officers to pay close attention to things that the person does such as, changes in body language and facial expressions. The officers pay close attention to the persons body language that involves looking around, picking lint of their close or shaking their leg. The officers use these signs as a way to prove that the person is lying. This process is flawed because it causes anxiety in the person making them flustered while moving rapidly and sweating, which leads to them confessing to something they did not do. People realize that they are in a bad situation, and often times confess in order to get out of it on the bases that they will be able to fight it later in court. The T.V....

Black Panther Movie Review

Image
Great acting, beautiful visuals and some intense action. First impressive thing I noticed was its rich attention to detail in world building and its characters. My only criticism, I would have like to have seen more of the Killmonger character, as I feel they didn't go far enough with him. Over-all, this is a fun and enjoyable movie with action, comedy, drama. There are some complex social political overtones mixed in, but it never feels heavy handed, and I feel that the over-all message is positive for humanity as a whole. If this type of movie isn't your cup of tea, fair enough, but if you are on the fence about watching due to pre-conceived notions about its content and message, I would recommend you give it a try, and I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

My reflection versus IMDB reviews

Image
IMDB review: The Mexican side of this documentary is more than intriguing. What people go through is incredible . The patrol they created to fight against crime is something that most people probably stand behind and support too. The Arizona patrol on the other hand? A whole different beast (quite literally, especially considering the views they express and because it's not the same situation as across the border).  Having said that, and if you are able to judge on your own and not take some things that are being said as more than they are: there is a real tension that builds up and even concerns families, bullying and trying to bring order where order is not wanted by the government (at least the current government in Mexico that is). And that's the thing: While the documentary takes a stance against drug and criminality, it almost embraces racism on the other hand ... either stay neutral or really make a good points. My reflection: My reaction and review was very simi...
